What are the 10 Basic Rules your Customer Service Agent need to follow in order to provide a Good Customer Service

Providing good customer services is essential to maintain a strong and satisfactory relation between clients and  businesses. There are some tips that mark the difference between a good customer service and a bad one. Often what makes a bad customer service can be avoided easily, because it is mainly based in some small failures that every business should have in mind in order not to make. A  business doesn’t have to be a huge enterprise, it can be a small shop or an independent professional. Although some details may vary depending on the kind of service provided, there are some basic, useful tips for all kinds or businesses in order to give clients the full satisfaction they deserve:

1.- Customer is always right. This is the golden rule of the customer service, since businesses exist to provide services to their clients, not the reverse. If clients ask for something, of complain about something, they are right. Listening to them and showing eager to fulfill their desires is the best a business can do.

2.- Being reliable. Cheating or being dishonest is always a temptation. However, in the long run, being honest is also not only ethical but excellent both for the business and for the client. Customers want somebody they can trust in, and being honest, truthful and reliable is basically a a good idea for a stable business. Honesty helps to establish a strong, long-lasting bond between clients and businesses. Reliability means also confidentiality and privacy, because professionalism means sometimes being discreet.

3.- Customer’s time and money are highly valuable. Businesses exist to serve the customer, not to making him waste time, money and efforts. Therefore, a good service must be fast, reasonably cheap and easy for the client.

4.- Adding an extra touch that makes a business’ service more attractive than other similar services is a plus. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be a very complicated thing,  because  excellence in service is made not only of very hard work, but also of little details.

5.- Being friendly is another thing to remember. A good professional must remember that clients always thank a smile and polite manners.

6.- Being always ready is important too. Availability is an extremely quality to have. A good business doesn’t expect clients to wait, but it is always ready whenever clients need its services.

7.- Knowledge is a must. A good business has to be prepared to learn  more about the services that it provides. Everyday new things can be discovered, and therefore better services can be provided.

8.- Complete dedication to the client is another point to be taken very seriously. Of course, it means that businesses have to dedicate an ongoing effort and hard work in order to satisfy their clients.

9.- Being ready to deliver information to the client when requested. Sometimes customers have questions to be asked, or doubts. A good business has to be ready to answer its clients promptly and honestly.

10.- Making things easy to the clients. The easiest, the better. Giving them eases in payments, offers, etc., is a plus that is always welcome.

What is your experience so far? Are you giving a Good Customer Service to your clients? Are you outsourcing customer serviceor do you prefer to take care of your customers yourself?
